Los Gatos del Barrio
Meet the Feral Cats Who Call Your Neighborhood Home
We are the quiet paws in alleyways, the watchful eyes beneath porches, the lives lived in the margins.
Born on the streets or left behind, we’ve learned to survive without homes—but not without hope.
Thanks to the compassion of Guardians de los Gatos, we are not forgotten. These everyday heroes feed us, shelter us, and protect us—often using their own time, money, and hearts to make sure we’re safe.
You can be part of this circle of care.
By becoming a Guardian, donating, or purchasing merchandise, you help provide food, shelter materials, humane traps, and other vital resources that make this work possible.
Together, we can build a kinder world—where every cat is seen, and every caregiver is supported.

Trap & Release Resources
Los Gatos del Barrio supports community cat caregivers through our Guardian de los Gatos program. While we don’t provide direct TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) services, we guide Guardians through the process: trapping feral cats, getting them spayed or neutered, and returning them to their colony.
We also loan humane traps to Guardians and can help connect you with local clinics or resources. Click “More Info” to request support or borrow a trap.

Guardian de los Gatos
Guardians de los Gatos are compassionate volunteers who provide food and shelter for community cats, often at their own expense. Los Gatos del Barrio supports these efforts by offering donated cat food, shelter materials, humane trap loans, and guidance on Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). We also accept monetary donations to help fund these resources and expand our outreach.
If you are a current feral cat caretaker and would like to become a Guardian de los Gatos—you’ll need to subscribe to our program to register and begin receiving support. Your dedication makes a difference, and we’re here to help you continue this vital work.

Why You Might See a Cat with a Clipped Ear
If you spot a cat in your neighborhood with a clipped left ear, please don’t remove or relocate it. That ear-tip is a universal sign that the cat has been spayed or neutered and vaccinated through a humane process called Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR).
TNR helps manage community cat populations by preventing unwanted litters while allowing cats to live safely in the area they know as home. The ear-tip is done while the cat is under anesthesia and helps caregivers and animal control know the cat has already been cared for.

Trap & Release
While trapping might sound intimidating, it’s actually one of the most humane and effective ways to manage free-roaming cat populations when done correctly. Humane trapping allows cats to be safely spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and returned to their familiar environment—reducing overpopulation and improving their well-being.
With the right knowledge and tools, anyone can learn to trap responsibly.
With practice, you can become a confident and compassionate trapper—and a vital part of the solution.
